Tinubu Mourns Victims of Maiduguri Terrorist Attacks

President Bola Tinubu expressed deep sorrow over the terrorist attacks in Maiduguri, Borno State, which claimed 25 lives and injured 108 others. In a statement, he condemned the attacks as desperate acts by evil-minded terrorists and reiterated that Nigeria will not succumb to fear.

Tinubu directed the Chief of Defence Staff to relocate to Maiduguri to oversee the situation directly. Prominent Nigerian figures, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and Bukola Saraki, also condemned the attacks.

The Vice President, Kashim Shettima, stated that no religion condones the killing of innocent lives. The Nigerian Police reported that the attacks involved multiple explosions, with preliminary investigations suggesting the involvement of a suspected suicide bomber.

The Chief Medical Director of the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital, Professor Ahidjo, confirmed that 25 deaths were recorded, and 70 individuals were hospitalized, with urgent blood donations needed to assist the victims.
