Tinubu Orders Security Chiefs to Borno After Bombings

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has directed Nigeria's top security chiefs to relocate to Borno State in response to deadly bombings in Maiduguri that occurred on Monday, resulting in the loss of at least 23 lives and injuring over 100 individuals. The explosions took place at multiple locations, including a busy market and a university, during the Ramadan iftar period, exacerbating the impact on the community.

In a statement issued from the State House on Tuesday, President Tinubu expressed profound grief over the loss of lives and extended sympathies to the victims' families. He emphasized that the attacks should not weaken ongoing security operations and described the bombings as acts of terror aimed at instilling fear amid sustained military pressure on insurgents.

The President assured that adequate medical attention would be provided to the victims and instructed security chiefs to ensure a robust response to the situation. Additional military equipment and support have been approved to strengthen operations against insurgents in the region.
