Tinubu Mourns Passing of Ex-Super Eagles Coach Onigbinde

President Bola Tinubu mourned the death of High Chief Adegboye Onigbinde, the former head coach of the Super Eagles, who passed away on Monday at the age of 88. In a statement released on Tuesday, Tinubu extended his sympathies to Onigbinde's family and the football community.

He recognized Onigbinde as a distinguished football administrator and the first indigenous coach of the Super Eagles in 1982. Tinubu commended Onigbinde's contributions to grassroots football development and the strengthening of football administration in Nigeria.

He acknowledged Onigbinde's historical leadership, particularly guiding the Super Eagles to the finals of the Africa Cup of Nations in 1984. The president praised Onigbinde's discipline, integrity, foresight, and passion for the game, stating that his accomplishments in football management would be remembered.
