Tinubu Appoints Smart Olugbeko as Provost of Ekiti College

President Bola Tinubu approved the appointment of Associate Professor Smart Olugbeko as the substantive provost of the Federal College of Education, Ilaw Ekiti, Ekiti State. This decision was announced during the 8th regular meeting of the institution's governing council held on June 10, 2026.

Registrar and Secretary of the governing council, Dr. Khadijah Garba, described Olugbeko as a seasoned academic administrator with two decades of experience in teaching, research, and educational leadership.

His appointment is for a single five-year term, effective from the date he assumes office. The governing council expressed confidence in Olugbeko's ability to provide visionary leadership and strengthen the institution's position as a center of excellence in teacher education.

Prior to this appointment, Olugbeko served as a chief lecturer at the Federal College of Education (Technical), Ekiadolor, Edo State, and has made significant contributions to scholarship, particularly in bilingual language policy and conflict resolution. He has received 40 professional awards recognizing his contributions to educational development in Nigeria.
