Tinubu Appoints Toyin Ogundipe NUC Chairman

President Bola Tinubu appointed Professor Oluwatoyin Temitayo Ogundipe as the Chairman of the National Universities Commission (NUC) in Nigeria. This appointment was announced through a release by presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga.

Ogundipe, who served as the Vice Chancellor of the University of Lagos (UNILAG) from 2017 to 2022, succeeds the emeritus Professor Olufemi Raphael Aina, who resigned from the position less than a year after his appointment. Ogundipe's term as NUC Chairman will last until July 2025.

He is expected to provide visionary leadership to the NUC, focusing on enhancing the global competitiveness and stability of the Nigerian university system. Additionally, Ogundipe holds a PhD in Botany from Obafemi Awolowo University and has extensive experience in various professional bodies, including serving as a fellow of the Nigerian Academy of Science and the Linnaean Society of London.
