Tinubu Nominates Taiwo Oyedele as Finance Minister

President Bola Tinubu has nominated Taiwo Oyedele as the Minister of State for Finance, succeeding Anit Uzoka, who has been redeployed to the Ministry of Budget and National Planning. Oyedele's nomination was communicated in a letter to the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, and is expected to be confirmed by the Senate within the week.

Oyedele, who is 50 years old and hails from Ikaram Akoko in Ondo State, is an economist and public policy expert with extensive experience in fiscal policy. He previously served as a fiscal policy partner and Africa tax leader at PricewaterhouseCoopers for 22 years, joining in 2001.

He has also held academic positions, including being a professor at Babcock University and a visiting scholar at Lagos Business School. Oyedele is expected to lead the implementation of tax reforms that include significant changes to Nigeria's tax system, aimed at improving revenue generation and deepening economic reform.
