Tinubu Nominates Joseph Tegbe as New Power Minister

President Bola Tinubu has nominated Joseph Tegbe as the Minister of Power, as announced in a statement signed by his special adviser, Bayo Onanuga, on Thursday. This nomination comes after Adebayo Adelabu resigned from the position to pursue a governorship election in Oyo State, with his resignation effective March 2026.

Tegbe, an indigene of Oyo State, brings over three decades of experience in fiscal and economic reform across both public and private sectors. He has previously served as a senior partner and head of advisory services at KPMG Africa and has led initiatives in fiscal policy reform.

His prior experience includes working with regulatory institutions to reform the power sector and engaging with agencies such as the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission and the Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading Company. Upon confirmation, President Tinubu expects Tegbe to leverage his expertise to advance critical reforms and improve outcomes in Nigeria's power sector.
