ADC Claims Tinubu Unqualified for 2027 Election

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has declared that President Bola Tinubu is not qualified to contest in the 2027 presidential election, citing his alleged failure to present his primary and secondary school certificates in his submission to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). Kalu Kalu, a lawyer and ADC chieftain, accused Tinubu of forgery, claiming he presented non-existent certificates, which disqualifies him under Section 137(1)(j) of the 1999 Constitution.

Kalu alleged that the schools Tinubu claimed to have attended either did not exist at the time or were misrepresented. He referenced the scrutiny of Tinubu's Chicago State University certificate in a U.S. court, stating that records revealed Tinubu falsely claimed to have graduated from Government College, Lagos in 1970, a school that was established in 1974.

Kalu also discussed the implications of Section 29 of the Electoral Act concerning challenges to Tinubu's candidacy, noting that no aspirant from the All Progressives Congress (APC) has contested his nomination.
