ADC Critiques Tinubu's 2027 Campaign Amid Poverty Issues

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) stated that President Bola Tinubu's 2027 re-election campaign cannot erase the hardships and poverty experienced by Nigerians during his administration. ADC National Publicity Secretary Bolaji Abdullahi remarked that the 2027 general election would serve as a referendum on Tinubu's first-term performance.

The ADC criticized the inclusion of former officials, such as former Humanitarian Affairs Minister Betta Edu and former NSITF Chairman Ngozi Olejeme, in Tinubu's campaign council, labeling it a "rehabilitation centre" for individuals with unresolved corruption allegations. The ADC expressed concerns over the administration's commitment to fighting corruption, claiming that investigations into financial misconduct often disappear without explanation.

Abdullahi emphasized that Nigerians would judge Tinubu based on the impact of his administration on their lives, rather than the composition of his campaign council. The ADC also reiterated support for Atiku Abubakar's proposal for a targeted subsidy on fuel production to alleviate petrol prices and the cost of living.
