Tinubu Approves N15bn for New Nigeria Police Academy Campus

President Bola Tinubu has approved a N15 billion take-off grant for the establishment of a new campus of the Nigeria Police Academy in Erinja, Yewa South Local Government Area, Ogun State. This approval was communicated by presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga on Monday.

The grant is part of the government's commitment to fulfilling the provisions of the Nigeria Police Academy Establishment Act 2021, particularly regarding the expansion of the academy's base in Wudil, Kano State, to multiple campuses across the country. The funding will be sourced from the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) 2026 allocation, prioritizing infrastructure, accommodation for students, and core training assets.

A high-level consultative meeting involving the Minister of Police Affairs, Ibrahim Geidam, and the Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, was held to discuss the initiative.

Additionally, President Tinubu reconstituted the 16-member Governing Council of the Nigeria Police Academy, appointing Ibrahim Geidam as chairman and including representatives from various geopolitical zones.
