Tinubu Approves N15bn for New Nigeria Police Academy Campus

President Bola Tinubu has approved a N15 billion take-off grant for the establishment of a new campus of the Nigeria Police Academy in Erinja, Yewa South Local Government Area, Ogun State. This decision was announced by presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga in a statement issued on Monday.

The grant fulfills provisions of the Nigeria Police Academy Establishment Act 2021, particularly regarding the expansion of the academy's base in Wudil, Kano State, to multiple campuses across the country. The funding will be sourced from the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) allocation for 2026, prioritizing infrastructure development, student accommodation, and core training assets.

The initiative aims to address the long-term needs of the Nigerian Police Force in terms of recruitment and training quality. Additionally, President Tinubu reconstituted the 16-member governing council of the Nigeria Police Academy, appointing Ibrahim Geidam as chairman and including representatives from various ministries and geopolitical zones.
