Tinubu Meets Finance-Designate Mark Oyedele in Abuja

On a recent date, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu received Mark Oyedele, the Minister of State for Finance-Designate, in Abuja for their first official audience. The meeting provided an opportunity for both to exchange views on Nigeria's ongoing fiscal reform agenda.

They discussed strategies to strengthen public financial management, with a reported focus on improving revenue mobilization and expanding the tax base to enhance the country's fiscal framework. Oyedele is expected to play a key role in engaging with the President and senior government officials on tax reform and economic policy initiatives.

Previously, he served as the chairman of the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reform, where he developed Nigeria's new consolidated tax law. During his tenure, the committee proposed several measures aimed at improving tax administration and boosting government revenue.

Oyedele's appointment comes as part of Tinubu's administration's efforts to implement reforms aimed at stabilizing the economy, increasing government revenue, and building a sustainable fiscal structure for national development.
