Akume Affirms Tinubu's Commitment to Nation-Building

During the second quarterly meeting of the Nigeria Inter Religious Council (NIREC) in Abuja, Senator George Akume, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, affirmed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's commitment to nation-building despite the numerous challenges facing Nigeria, including violence from banditry, kidnappings, and terrorist attacks. Akume highlighted the government's efforts to ensure the safety and security of all Nigerians, stating that the Armed Forces, security agencies, and police are intensifying operations against criminal activities.

He mentioned the government's initiatives to enhance intelligence gathering and improve security at vulnerable locations such as schools and places of worship. Akume called for unity among religious and community leaders to counteract division and promote peace, urging them to condemn violence and work together to foster social harmony.

He acknowledged a recent peace accord signed by over 50 Muslim and Christian leaders aimed at building social harmony.
