Adeleke Reaffirms Support for Tinubu Amid Osun Tensions

On Tuesday, during a cabinet meeting in Osogbo, Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State declared his unwavering support for President Bola Tinubu's re-election campaign for 2027. He emphasized that the political disagreements within the state, particularly with the All Progressives Congress (APC), do not extend to his endorsement of Tinubu.

Adeleke expressed gratitude for the support from residents, noting the influence of his party, the People's Democratic Party (PDP), continues to grow. He pledged to enhance grassroots mobilization across the state's 332 wards to strengthen party membership.

Despite his endorsement, Adeleke's administration is embroiled in a prolonged dispute with the APC regarding control of local government councils, stemming from the October 2022 local government elections. This conflict has led to violent clashes, resulting in at least six deaths, including that of local government chairman Remi Abba.

The ongoing legal and political tensions continue to create instability in Osun State.
