Tinubu Proposes Bill to Strengthen Secondary Education

President Bola Tinubu has presented a bill to the House of Representatives seeking to enhance the administration of public senior secondary education in Nigeria. During a plenary session, Speaker Abba Tajudeen confirmed the receipt of the bill, which proposes amendments to the National Senior Secondary Education Commission Act.

The bill was approved by the Federal Executive Council on April 30, 2026. In his letter, President Tinubu explained that the bill aims to strengthen educational institutions in the nation's interest.

Additionally, he solicited the expedited consideration and passage of the bill. The proposed legislation is part of a broader effort to improve educational standards and governance in Nigeria's secondary education sector.
