Ex-Senator Urges Military Invasion of Burkina Faso for Nigerian Soldiers' Release

Former Nigerian Senator Ayodele Arise, a chieftain of the APC, has called on President Bola Tinubu to contemplate a military intervention in Burkina Faso to free Nigerian soldiers reportedly detained there. This comes after the confirmation by the Nigerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs that Nigerian soldiers were forced to land in Burkina Faso.

Arise cited Israel's 1976 Entebbe raid in Uganda as an example of decisive action to rescue citizens. Nigeria is urged to defend its national interests firmly.

The region of Burkina Faso, alongside Mali and Niger, is under military rule as part of the Sahel states.
