Ex-Lawmaker Urges Tinubu to Consider Military Intervention in Burkina Faso for Detained Nigerian Soldiers

A former lawmaker from Ekiti North, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has urged President Bola Tinubu to contemplate a military intervention in Burkina Faso to secure the release of 11 Nigerian soldiers currently detained in the West African country. The Nigerian Air Force C-130 aircraft landed in southwestern Burkina Faso, leading to the arrest of soldiers due to airspace violation.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar, confirmed the detention of Nigerian military personnel and mentioned ongoing diplomatic efforts to resolve the situation. The call for military action stems from the need for immediate action in national security decisions.
