Sowore Calls DSS Cybercrime Case Suspension a Victory

Omoyele Sowore, a human rights activist and 2027 presidential candidate, responded to the suspension of his cybercrime trial by the Department of State Services (DSS), calling it a victory for resistance against oppression. In his statement, Sowore claimed the DSS was “forced to eat humble pie” after what he termed an unlawful prosecution.

He emphasized that this development reinforced his belief in the power of resistance against oppressive authorities, recalling his struggles under previous administrations, including military dictatorship and the Buhari regime. Sowore urged the DSS to withdraw the charges against him and apologize to Nigerians for what he described as an abuse of power.

He also demanded the return of his phones and other electronic devices that were allegedly seized by the DSS, along with a ₦3 million fine imposed on the agency by the courts. Additionally, he requested the return of devices seized from his assistant, Zainab Sodiq.

Despite the suspension of the trial, Sowore asserted that his resolve remains unbroken and his struggle continues.
