Tinubu Appoints Taiwo Oyedele as Finance Minister of State

On a Monday afternoon, President Bola Tinubu formally swore in Taiwo Oyedele as the new Minister of State for Finance at the State House in Abuja. This appointment follows a recent minor cabinet reshuffle, which saw the redeployment of the former Minister of State for Finance, Dr.

Dori Uzoka. The ceremony marked Oyedele's entry into the Federal Executive Council (FEC).

At 50 years old, Oyedele previously served as the chairman of the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reform, a body established to oversee the overhaul of Nigeria's tax administration and fiscal policy framework. His appointment is expected to reinforce the administration's efforts to deepen fiscal reform and strengthen Nigeria's economy.

The government aims to improve compliance, simplify the tax system, and expand revenue, with details of these proposals to be developed later.
