Tinubu Condoles with Jega Over Wife's Passing

President Bola Tinubu extended his condolences to Professor Attahiru Jega, the former chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), on the passing of his wife, Hajiya Hadiza Jega. In a statement issued by his special adviser on media and strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu described Hajiya Hadiza as a woman of uncommon grace and steadfast character who provided unwavering support to Professor Jega throughout his public service career.

The president expressed his sorrow over the loss, noting that Hajiya Hadiza was a beloved wife of 40 years and that her passing would be deeply felt by her family. He prayed for God's mercy and for the family to find solace during this difficult time.

The janazah prayer for Hajiya Hadiza was held at the National Mosque in Abuja on Sunday, April 5, 2026, following her death, which was announced by Bayero University Kano.
