Tinubu Launches Climate Change Awareness Tour in Abuja

On the launch of the "Renew Hope Climate Change Awareness Tour" in Abuja, President Bola Tinubu called on governors, the private sector, and stakeholders to spearhead Nigeria's climate transition. The initiative, represented by Minister of Environment Balarab Abba Lawal, aims to promote climate resilience and sustainable development nationwide.

Tinubu emphasized that climate change is not merely a risk but an opportunity for Nigeria, highlighting its impact on farmers facing drought in the north and coastal communities dealing with erosion and flooding in the south. The tour will engage various groups, including traditional rulers, students, and entrepreneurs, to identify bankable projects that can mobilize climate finance.

Tinubu reiterated the urgency of addressing climate change, referencing the Climate Change Act of 2021, which established a legal framework for coordinating climate governance and achieving net-zero emissions by 2060. The initiative seeks to bridge gaps in climate action and inspire new climate leaders across Nigeria.
