Tinubu to Mediate Wike-APC Governors Dispute Abroad

President Bola Tinubu is preparing to intervene in the conflict between Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory and a member of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, and governors from the All Progressives Congress (APC). This intervention aims to resolve tensions that could affect the political landscape ahead of the 2027 general elections.

A senior presidential aide indicated that the discussions might occur abroad before the week's end, as President Tinubu is currently on vacation in France. Wike has been promoting the Rainbow Coalition in Rivers State, which he claims supports Tinubu's re-election bid.

However, this coalition has raised concerns among APC governors, who fear it could undermine their candidates in upcoming elections. Wike accused Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq and Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma of opposing him.

Uzodimma, representing the Progressive Governors Forum, stated that APC governors would not support any political arrangement that could weaken the party or affect Tinubu's re-election.
