Tinubu to Swear in Olatunji Disu as New IGP Wednesday

President Bola Tinubu is set to swear in Olatunji Disu as the Inspector General of Police (IGP) on Wednesday, following a unanimous endorsement from the Nigeria Police Council. The swearing-in ceremony will occur during a Federal Executive Council meeting, as announced by Special Adviser to the President, Bayo Onanuga.

Disu, born on April 13, 1966, in Lagos State, joined the Nigeria Police Force on May 18, 1992, and has held multiple qualifications in public administration, forensic investigation, criminology, and security. Prior to this appointment, he served as the Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of the Special Protection Unit.

His appointment comes after the resignation of Kayode Egbetokun, who cited family issues. Various state governors, including Nyesom Wike and Abdullahi Sule, praised Disu's exemplary service and career record, highlighting his effectiveness in crime control during his tenure in Lagos State from 2015 to 2021.
