Arewa Youths Demand Suspension of NNPCL's Dagazau

The Arewa youths have urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to suspend Dr. Mumuni Dagazau, the Executive Vice President, Downstream, of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL). This request comes as the House of Representatives Committee on Petroleum Resources (Downstream) begins preliminary investigations into two petitions alleging misconduct and regulatory issues in Nigeria’s downstream petroleum sector.

Hon. Ikenga Ugochinyere, the Chairman of the Committee, announced the formation of two sub-committees to investigate these petitions and report back to the main Committee. Kabiru Yusuf, the Convener of the Arewa youths, emphasized the need for accountability and transparency, stating that public confidence in the NNPCL must not be compromised.

While acknowledging Dagazau's presumption of innocence, the group called for his suspension pending the investigation's outcome and urged him to voluntarily step aside. They also requested a thorough and impartial investigation by the House Committee, ensuring all evidence is examined and findings made public.
