Tinubu Submits 2026 FCTA Budget and Key Appointments

On Tuesday, President Bola Tinubu formally transmitted the 2026 budget proposal for the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) to the Senate for consideration. This proposal is aligned with statutory provisions and aims to reflect the fiscal development priorities of the federal government.

The Senate, led by President Godswill Akpabio, is set to refer the proposal to the Committee on Rules and Business for further legislative action. In addition to the budget, President Tinubu requested the Senate to expedite approval for eight nominees across four federal institutions.

Among these nominees is Taiwo Oyedele, an expert in tax policy, who is nominated for a ministerial position. Other nominations include Mainasara Ilo as the Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Anti-Doping Centre for a four-year tenure, and Magunu Ab as Chairman of the Nigeria Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission, alongside Jossi Yaro and Sunda Adebayo for non-executive commission roles.
