Tinubu Sends 2026 FCTA Budget to Senate for Approval

On Tuesday, President Bola Tinubu formally transmitted the 2026 budget proposal for the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) to the Senate for consideration. This proposal was presented alongside requests for the Senate's approval of several key federal appointments.

Senate President Godswill Akpabio stated that the budget was prepared in line with statutory provisions and aligned with the fiscal development priorities of the federal government. The Senate will refer the proposed budget to the committee for further legislative action.

Additionally, President Tinubu sought the Senate's expedited approval for eight nominees across four federal institutions. Among these nominees is tax policy expert Taiwo Oyeleke, whose ministerial nomination was forwarded for consideration.

Other notable nominations include Mainasara Ilo for the position of Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Anti-Doping Centre and Magunu Ab for Chairman of the Nigeria Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission, alongside Jossi Yaro and Sunday Adebayo as non-executive commissioners.
