Atiku Accuses INEC of Undermining Opposition Ahead of 2027

Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), accused the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of aiding Bola Tinubu's administration to undermine opposition parties in preparation for the 2027 general elections. He stated that INEC unlawfully granted access to its candidate nomination portal to Nafiu Bala Gomb, who claims to lead the ADC, despite the party's recognized leadership under David Mark.

Atiku's media office argued that Gomb's submission of candidates lacks legal backing and contradicts INEC's guidelines. They asserted that Gomb's actions reflect INEC's partisanship and contribute to internal disputes within the ADC.

The media office emphasized that the submission process by Gomb is null and void, as it does not comply with the Electoral Act 2022. Despite these allegations, Gomb announced the successful upload of ADC candidates for the 2027 general elections, including Dr.

Shamsuddeen Modibbo Barkindo as the vice presidential candidate.
