Tinubu Commits to Ending Abandoned Projects in Abuja

On Wednesday, President Bola Tinubu declared an end to the tradition of abandoned public infrastructure projects in Nigeria. He emphasized the importance of infrastructure as a measure of national progress during a statement made by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Communication, Stanlei Nkwocha.

Tinubu highlighted the N5 corridor project, which aims to enhance connectivity across various districts in Abuja, including Dape, Karmo, Gwarinpa, Kado, and Idu Mbora, and is expected to alleviate traffic congestion at the Life Camp junction. The project, awarded to Julius Berger, has a 15-month execution timeline, with a flag-off scheduled for October 2024.

Tinubu called on residents and businesses to comply with tax obligations to strengthen the Federal Capital Territory Administration's capacity to deliver projects. He also urged community leaders to protect public infrastructure from vandalism.

The President commended Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, for his commitment to infrastructure delivery and acknowledged the significant improvements in road connectivity under his administration.
