Tinubu Advocates for UN Charter Preamble in Constitutions

President Bola Tinubu has called for the incorporation of the preamble of the United Nations Charter into the constitutions of member states. This proposal aims to reinforce global peace, justice, and human dignity, as stated by Dr.

Jimoh Ibrahim, Nigeria's permanent representative to the UN. The announcement was made during a meeting at the UN headquarters in New York ahead of President Tinubu's participation in the 81st session of the UN General Assembly scheduled for September.

Ibrahim, who chairs the Budget Appropriations Committee of the Fifth Committee of the UN General Assembly, emphasized that adopting the UN Charter's preamble into national constitutions would strengthen shared values among member states. The proposal received applause from delegates and reflects Nigeria's commitment to multilateralism and promoting peace and sustainable development globally.
