Dalung Critiques Tinubu's 2027 Election Strategy

Solomon Dalung, the former Minister of Sports under late President Muhammadu Buhari, stated that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is “working very hard” to lose the 2027 presidential election. Dalung expressed concerns that the Tinubu administration risks losing public support due to worsening economic conditions and insecurity in Nigeria.

He noted that incumbents often lose elections not because of a stronger opposition but due to a disconnection from the electorate. Dalung highlighted that many Nigerians are facing rising living costs, unemployment, and insecurity, which could significantly influence their voting behavior in the upcoming election.

He asserted that the government must earn public goodwill through policies that improve citizens' lives and fulfill campaign promises. Dalung warned that economic hardship and hopelessness are more influential than opposition campaigns, stating that citizens will judge the government based on their daily experiences.

He advised the Tinubu administration to focus on addressing economic and security challenges rather than political realignments to secure another term in office.
