ADC, NDC Demand Release of Tinubu's FBI Records

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) and the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) are demanding the public release of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's records with U.S. law enforcement agencies, arguing that Nigerians deserve to know the truth about his past. This controversy arises as details from Tinubu's legal team's submissions to the United States District Court for the District of Columbia have emerged.

His lawyers, Christopher Carmichael, Victor Henderson, and Oluwole Afolabi, contend that the records are protected under the U.S. Freedom of Information Act and the Privacy Act, asserting that they contain private details exempt from public disclosure.

They argue that the public interest claimed by the opposition does not meet the legal standards for disclosure and that the request is politically motivated. ADC spokesperson Bolaji Abdullahi criticized Tinubu's opposition to the release, suggesting that transparency would help resolve the controversy surrounding his past.
