Tinubu's Administration Prioritizes National Security

On Thursday, during the 2nd Policy Colloquium 2026, Gen Christopher Musa (retd), the Minister of Defence, articulated that the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is prioritizing national security to safeguard Nigeria's sovereignty, preserve democratic institutions, and promote national development. He noted that President Tinubu has consistently reaffirmed the government's commitment to enhancing national security and equipping the Armed Forces with necessary capabilities.

Gen Musa emphasized that a secure Nigeria is crucial for protecting sovereignty and advancing development. He outlined the need for an integrated defense posture to address security challenges across various domains, including land, maritime, air, and cyber.

He also highlighted the importance of technology in defense, advocating for investments in emerging technologies to strengthen Nigeria's military capabilities. Additionally, Chief Sunday Dare, Special Adviser to President Tinubu, remarked on the implications of some West African countries withdrawing from ECOWAS, which he claimed undermined regional economic integration.
