Tinubu's Road Projects Boost Jobs and Economic Growth

On Friday, Minister of Works David Umahi stated that the ongoing legacy road projects under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's administration are generating thousands of jobs and stimulating economic growth across Nigeria. During an inspection of the Ebonyi section of the Cross River-Abuja Super Highway, Umahi noted that the infrastructure drive has created employment opportunities for engineers, artisans, transporters, food vendors, and suppliers of construction materials.

He highlighted that the introduction of reinforced concrete pavement is enhancing durability and driving economic growth, benefiting cement manufacturers and increasing their profits. Umahi clarified that the federal government’s borrowing is specifically targeted at funding critical infrastructure, not for recurrent expenditures like salaries or vehicle purchases.

He mentioned that the first section of the Cross River–Abuja Legacy Highway is nearing completion, with work on the second section underway following a 30 percent mobilization payment to the contractor. Umahi expressed support for Tinubu’s re-election and acknowledged the significant federal infrastructure investment in the South-east.
