Tinubu's Investigator Demands Trial in $6.2M CBN Fraud

Jim Obaz, a special investigator appointed by President Bola Tinubu, is demanding the trial of former President Muhammadu Buhari and former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, regarding an alleged $6.2 million fraud linked to the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN). The allegations involve the misappropriation of funds from a foreign exchange account held by the federal government at the CBN.

Obaz made this demand during a hearing at the Federal High Court in Abuja, where he presented evidence on behalf of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) against former CBN Governor Godwin Emefiele. Obaz expressed frustration over a letter signed by Buhari that authorized the release of the $6.2 million, which he claims was facilitated by Mustapha.

The trial is set to continue on October 20, 2023, with demands for the prosecution of all involved parties, including Emefiele and Mustapha.
