CRPP Backs Tinubu's Call for Fiscal Discipline in Edo

The Coalition of Registered Political Parties (CRPP) has expressed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's recent admonition to governors regarding prudent management of public resources validates their stance against what they term "wasteful government spending" in Edo State. In a statement issued on Friday, signed by national chairman Dr Samson Isibor and national secretary Nkama Waribe, the CRPP criticized the proposed overhead flyover project in Edo, emphasizing the need for governments to allocate resources to initiatives that directly benefit citizens.

They raised concerns about Governor Monday Okpebholo's ongoing investment trip to the United Kingdom, questioning the trip's objectives, the specific investment opportunities being pursued, and the anticipated economic gains for the state. The CRPP also criticized the delegation's composition, alleging poor planning and the inclusion of individuals irrelevant to the investment mission.

In response, Prince Kassim Afegbua, the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, defended the trip, stating that 90 percent of the attendees were self-sponsored and that the meeting aimed to connect with Edo people in the Diaspora.
