Obi Demands Tinubu's Resignation Over Corruption Claims

Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), has publicly demanded the resignation of President Bola Tinubu, accusing his administration of grand corruption. Obi cited a recent International Monetary Fund (IMF) report that revealed N8.83 trillion in unbudgeted expenditures, which he argues is outside legislative oversight.

This amount represents 2% of Nigeria's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and 35% of the country's 2025 capital budget of N23.96 trillion. Obi criticized the government's management of public finances, claiming that the misallocation of funds has severely impacted public healthcare and education, and has hindered job creation.

He described the current administration as grossly corrupt and incompetent, warning that such practices threaten national security and deepen poverty. Obi reiterated his call for Tinubu to step down, citing a failure to fulfill campaign promises and a lack of direction in governance.
