Tinubu Inaugurates N1bn ICT Centre at UNICROSS

On Friday, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, the First Lady of Nigeria, inaugurated a N1 billion Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Digital Experience Centre at the University of Cross River State (UNICROSS) in Calabar. This facility, established through the Renewed Hope Initiative in collaboration with the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), aims to provide students, particularly those from economically disadvantaged backgrounds, with free access to laptops, desktops, and other digital resources.

During the inauguration, Tinubu emphasized the importance of the centre in enabling students to learn and develop digital skills without the barriers of device shortages or unstable electricity. The project is part of a broader initiative involving various tertiary institutions across Nigeria's six geopolitical zones.

Hon. Aminu Masari, noted that the centre is one of six nationwide, designed to enhance digital skills in areas like Artificial Intelligence and cybersecurity, ultimately improving graduate employability.
