Tobechukwu Nweke Appointed Anambra Attorney General

On March 23, 2026, Tobechukwu Nweke was appointed as the new Attorney General of Anambra State by Governor Prof. Charles Soludo.

This appointment is notable as it breaks a 20-year gap in which no senior advocate has held the position, highlighting a deliberate choice for a technically competent and youthful leader in the state's justice system. Nweke, hailing from Nsugbe in Anambra East Local Government Area, began his legal career after graduating from the University of Nigeria, Enugu Campus in 2008 and was called to the Nigerian Bar in November 2009.

He worked at the law office of Dr. Onyechi Ikpeazu SAN in Abuja and rose to the position of managing solicitor by 2013.

Nweke expanded his expertise into arbitration and was recognized as a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators in the UK in 2023. He holds a Master of Law (LLM) degree from Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University and was elevated to Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) in September 2024, making him one of the youngest to achieve this status.
