Nigeria's Inflation Rate Slightly Decreases in September 2025, Kogi State Tops List of Expensive States

In September 2025, Nigeria's inflation rate was 18.02%, down from 20.12% in August 2025, as per the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS). Food inflation stood at 16.87%, a decrease from 20.9% in September 2024.

Kogi state had the highest annual increase in the cost of goods and services, with an inflation rate of 19.5%. Food prices remained high, especially in northern states due to insecurity and poor logistics.

The report highlighted the challenges faced by states in managing inflation, with Kogi being at the bottom of the top ten expensive states.
