Tosin Dara Receives Creative Industry Icon Award at SONTA

Oluwatosin Joshua Dara, a renowned filmmaker, cinematographer, and Creative Director of Ibumedia, was honored with the Creative Industry Icon Award at the 39th International Conference and 40th Annual General Meeting of the Society of Nigeria Theatre Artists (SONTA). The conference took place from August 18 to 21, 2026, at Lead City University, Ibadan, under the theme “African Indigenous Knowledge Systems in Performance, Film and Sustainable Futures.” This award acknowledges Dara's significant influence in Nigeria's creative industry, where he has over a decade of experience in filmmaking, cinematography, and multimedia storytelling.

His work includes contributions to documentary projects and international initiatives, such as the United Nations Youth Climate Change Video Project. Following this recognition, Dara plans to expand his film production efforts with More Brains Film, focusing on narrative films that reflect African stories and identities.

He expressed gratitude to the conference organizers, particularly the Department of Performing Arts, Music & Film Studies at Lead City University, and Dr. Adebayo Badeji.
