Tottenham Hotspur's £300m Spending Fails to Yield Goals

Tottenham Hotspur, under the management of Roberto De Zerbi, has struggled to convert a £300 million summer investment into goals, remaining goalless after four Premier League matches. Their latest setback was a 0-0 draw against Everton on September 13, 2023, which extended their goal drought to 407 minutes.

This marks the first time in the club's history that they have failed to score in their first four league matches across all tiers of English football. Despite dominating possession, Tottenham could not create significant scoring opportunities, with their first shot on target coming only after half-time from £85 million signing Mateus Fernandes.

De Zerbi's attempts to change the game by introducing new signings, including Omar Marmoush and Savio, did not yield results. Tottenham's previous two seasons saw them finish 17th in the Premier League, and the expectation was that the new signings would improve their attacking options, but the lack of goals has raised concerns about the effectiveness of their summer spending.
