Ohanaeze Ndigbo: Ohiri's Allegations Against Umahi Political

Ohanaeze Ndigbo, the apex Igbo socio-cultural organization, has stated that the renewed allegations made by Tracy Ohiri against David Umahi, the former governor of Ebonyi State, are politically motivated. The organization issued a statement on Sunday, asserting that opposition forces are behind these allegations, aiming to discredit Umahi's work as a minister.

Ohiri has resurfaced with fresh claims despite having previously apologized and retracted her allegations, raising concerns about external political influences. Ohanaeze specifically pointed to elements within the African Democratic Congress as orchestrating a campaign to undermine Umahi.

They noted that Ohiri's past recantation of sexual harassment allegations and her public plea for forgiveness cast doubt on her latest claims. Ohanaeze dismissed reports of Umahi compensating Ohiri, insisting that any financial support she received was from private contributions and not linked to the minister.

They warned that unverifiable allegations erode public trust and destabilize governance, urging Ohiri to refrain from using her claims as a political tool.
