Tragedy as 16-Year-Old Girl Drowns in Flood While Rushing Home to Check SSCE Results

A tragic incident occurred as 16-year-old Praise Malachi drowned in a flood while rushing home to check her Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) results. Praise, a final year student at Government Day Secondary School Samaru Zaria, had reportedly performed excellently and even secured a scholarship.

Her father, Emmanuel Malachi, confirmed the sad news, while Habiba Mohammed, the director of the Centre for Girls Zaria, praised Praise as one of the best students. This incident adds to the recent flooding woes in Zaria, with severe flooding reported in the Chikaji area.

In a related incident, six students from Government Secondary School Fadan Chawai were also victims of drowning. Three bodies have been recovered and buried, while search efforts continue for the remaining missing students.

The Zonal Coordinator of the Emergency Management Agency, Mubarak Muhammad, has pledged to verify the incident.
