West Ham Legend Ludek Miklosko Dies at 64 from Cancer

Ludek Miklosko, the Czech goalkeeper renowned for his time at West Ham United during the 1990s, has passed away at the age of 64 following a battle with cancer. He joined West Ham in 1990 from Baník Ostrava for £300,000 and made a significant impact by helping the club gain promotion in his debut season.

Over eight years, he made 373 appearances before moving to QPR in 1998. Miklosko retired from professional football in 2001 and returned to West Ham as a goalkeeping coach until 2010.

He later worked in an agency and returned to Baník Ostrava as a board member and sporting director in 2022. Diagnosed with cancer in 2021, he chose to decline chemotherapy to prioritize his quality of life.

Miklosko confirmed in 2024 that he would stop all cancer treatments. West Ham has announced a period of appreciation for him during their upcoming matches, recognizing his lasting legacy in the club's history.
