Awoniyi Linked with Transfer to Caykur Rizespor

Taiwo Awoniyi, a 29-year-old Super Eagles striker, has been linked with a potential move to Turkish Super Lig club Caykur Rizespor, which aims to strengthen its attack ahead of the new season. Awoniyi struggled for regular playing time at Premier League club Nottingham Forest during the 2025/26 season due to persistent injuries.

He was not registered for the UEFA Europa League and was included in the Premier League squad only after his compatriot Ola Aina sustained an injury. During the season, Awoniyi made 17 league appearances, scoring four goals and providing one assist.

With players like Igor Jesus and Chris Wood ahead of him in the pecking order, he may consider a move away from Nottingham Forest. Although he has participated regularly in pre-season games, it remains uncertain if he has impressed the new manager, Oliver Gleaner, enough to secure a more prominent role.
