Troops Arrest Four Illegal Miners in Ebobyi Operation

Troops from the Nigerian Military apprehended four suspected illegal miners in Ebobyi, located in the Ivo Local Government Area. The suspects were allegedly extracting mineral resources without authorization.

During the operation, troops recovered a mini truck, heavy-duty sapper cable, and an automotive battery. Major General Michael Onoja, the Director of Defence Media Operations, reported that the suspects were intercepted during the operation.

The troops faced aggression from local youths who obstructed their efforts, resulting in an attack on the convoy with stones. To ensure public order and safety, the troops fired two warning shots into the air to disperse the rioters.

The suspects have been taken into custody for prosecution, and there were no recorded casualties during the incident.
