Troops Arrest Gun Runner, Seize Ammunition and ₦2.4m

Troops from the Nigerian Army's 6 Brigade, operating under Sector 3 of Operation Whirl Stroke, arrested a suspected gun runner named Mr. Mondai Reuben, a 48-year-old male from Numan Local Government Area in Adamawa State.

The arrest occurred during a stop-and-search operation in the Ibi Local Government Area of Taraba State, based on credible intelligence. A thorough search of Reuben's vehicle, which bore the registration number RBC 798 DV Abuja, led to the recovery of significant items, including two AK-47 rifles, 197 empty magazines, 250 rounds of 7.62mm NATO ammunition, 700 rounds of 9mm Parabellum ammunition, and 19 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition.

Additionally, ₦2.4 million in cash was found in a wallet, along with four identification cards, four ATM cards, an Android phone, a power bank, eight bottles of perfume, and assorted local charms. Lieutenant Umar Muhammad stated that the recovered items would be handed over to the appropriate authorities for further investigation.

Brigadier General Chukwuemeka Michael Akaliro commended the troops for their professionalism and urged them to maintain momentum in their operations against criminal elements in Taraba State.
