Troops Arrest ISWAP Collaborator in Borno State

On May 20, 2023, troops from the 196 Amphibious Battalion apprehended a suspected collaborator of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), identified as Mr. Kellu Alhaji Abba, during a routine security check in the Kukawa Local Government Area of Borno State.

The arrest occurred at approximately 8:00 AM at a checkpoint set up by Company C, 7 Platoon. The suspect, a 50-year-old Kanuri woman residing in the Lawanti area of Baga town, was intercepted while allegedly conveying supplies to a terrorist identified as Modu Mustapha, who operates within the Dumba general area.

Items recovered from the suspect included four ready-to-use supplementary food packs, two hijabs, and a wristwatch. Mr.

Kellu Alhaji Abba is currently in the custody of the 196 Amphibious Battalion, which is conducting further investigations as necessary. The security situation across the theater remains calm but unpredictable, with troops maintaining satisfactory morale to effectively combat terrorism.
