Troops Arrest Suspected ISWAP Member in Borno State

On March 18, 2023, at approximately 6:30 PM, troops from the 25 Brigade, in collaboration with the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), arrested a suspected member of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) in the Damboa Local Government Area of Borno State. The operation was driven by intelligence that indicated suspicious phone conversations linked to the suspect, who resides in the Damboa general area.

During preliminary interrogation, the suspect confessed to being a disengaged member of ISWAP and revealed that his mobile phone is currently in custody for further investigation. Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency security expert in the Lake Chad region, disclosed these details, emphasizing that military authorities will continue intelligence-driven operations to dismantle terrorist cells in the region.
