Troops Arrest Suspected ISWAP Operative in Borno

On March 18, at approximately 6:30 PM, troops from the 25 Brigade of the Nigerian Army, in collaboration with members of the Civilian Joint Task Force, arrested a suspected member of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) in the Damboa Local Government Area of Borno State. The arrest followed intelligence reports linking the suspect to suspicious phone conversations allegedly related to terrorist activities.

The suspect, who resides in the Damboa area, admitted during preliminary interrogation to being a member of ISWAP but claimed to have disengaged from active operations. The suspect's mobile phone was taken into custody for further investigation, and security officials indicated that forensic analysis of the device would provide additional intelligence on the terrorist network.

Military authorities reiterated their commitment to intelligence-driven operations aimed at tracking and dismantling terrorist cells across the northeastern region of Nigeria.
